Who are we?
Beverley Baptist Church is a group of people from all walks of life who know Jesus Christ and want to make Him known. Every week, we join together at Swinemoor Primary School, Burden Road, Beverley, HU17 9LW, to worship God and to experience relevant and powerful teaching from the Bible. We are passionate about sharing the love of Christ by caring for each other and positively impacting our communities. You are assured a very warm welcome when you come and join us.
Where and When?
Click here for a map and directions to the School. We have a welcome banner on display outside the school where there is ample parking on the playground. It’s probably best to turn up around 9.50am. You’ll be greeted on the door by our welcoming team who will answer any questions you may have. No seats are reserved, so just take a seat wherever you like. There is always room.
What Should I Wear?
This is easy. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We are an informal church and accept people as they are.
What can I expect?
For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. Here’s a quick summary of what you can expect at BBC:
We’ve all experienced a ‘first day’ at church, so you’ll find we are friendly. If you don’t understand something please simply ask.
We start our meeting at 10.00am with a variety of songs, some modern and some older (with guitars, piano and drums) and often activities involving the children. At 10.20 (ish) the youth and children go to their own groups, we also run a crèche for the little ones.
We talk to God in prayer, have a talk from the Bible that is relevant & meaningful to our modern lives, and respond to God with times of quiet, prayer and song.
We finish around 11.15am, with tea and coffee (and hopefully some biscuits or cake!).
Our aim is that whether you are just looking into Christianity or church for the first time, or have been a Christian for many years, that you should be encouraged and inspired by being with us.
Is God Real?
At Beverley Baptist Church you will meet lots of people who have had an experience of God that has changed their lives.
We know that this is not easy to believe in our modern society. Some of us have taken some convincing (!) while, for others, faith in God came quite naturally.
The Christian faith is actually quite logical and a good hard look at the life of Jesus is pretty powerful. On the other hand, some people who call themselves “Christians” do things and say things that can be very off-putting.
Because of all the confusing messages around we try to be as honest and clear as we possibly can. We provide courses for those who want to discover more about the Christian faith. These are open to explorers, doubters, questioners and those who simply want to sit quietly and hear the arguments.
